Friends of ours, Todd of SincaiN40k and Sean of L33tlike.us, recently launched their kickstarter to produce some absolutely amazing laser cut terrain in a Western/Steampunk theme, which would work great for Malifaux. Honestly, there's not much else to say - they've designed some of the coolest and most detailed laser cut MDF terrain I've seen and I'll let the pics do most of the talking:

Review: Gamemat.eu G-Mats
In recent posts, you may or may not have noticed some new gaming mats appearing on our tables. I recently acquired three G-Mats from Gamemat.eu, and after having played a few games on them, wanted to write up a review.

7th Ed Maelstrom Game - 2,500pts - Tyranids vs. Dark Angels and Legion of the Damned
I finally got my first 7th Edition game in against Will, whose army you may remember from when we faced off at the local tournament a few months back. We decided to do a fun game using the Maelstrom missions and ended up finding ourselves around 2,500 points, which of course, Will was able to fit in a single case; I need to play a different army, as I had two cases plus two tool boxes full of minis. Fortunately I wasn't traveling far - from my hobby nook to my garage.

Terrain Daze II - Painted Terrain
So, a few of you longtime followers might remember about a YEAR ago, I built several ruins and a couple hills and based them. This last weekend I finally got around to painting them up. In Terrain Daze a couple weeks ago I painted a GW piece along with my rock arch with my airbrush. While I liked the effect it gave, for base coats it was definitely slow. This time, I decided to go with some craft paints and cheap, large paint brushes and sponges.

Terrain Daze
I recently got two of the ultra cool gaming mats from Frontline Gaming and TableWar; Urban Combat and Barren Wasteland. I am really excited to get some games on the mats, but I have a problem - my terrain is utter crap and completely unfit to go on these cool mats.

NOVA Bound: Display Board Update
Just a small update from last night. I didn't take too many pictures of the early stages, in part because it was tedious and boring; namely, drybrushing nearly 4 square feet of black paint with grey paint. In the end it's fairly patchy and I'm not all that happy with it yet. I then went about applying my static grass. I started with a band of green bordering the road, which gives way to a thin band of green and brown, followed by many patches of brown.

NOVA Bound: Display Board First Steps
Last night I got started on my display board. To boil down my pretty terrible clip-art shape sketch, the plan is to have the Mawloc's road in one corner at an angle, with a tiled path set back from the road which my Tervigon, Trygon, and Flyrant will be crossing. The road will be bordered by green grass that is quickly dying before the advance of the Swarmlord. On to the project!

Gaming Weekend: Evan's Final Pregame Thoughts
I just wanted to do a quick little update on progress from when we set our gaming weekend a month ago until today, when we kick off the festivities. My only two real accomplishments going into this gaming weekend were finishing the DakkaJet and basing some scenery.
Looking back to my goals post exactly one month ago, my plans definitely took a different course than I'd expected. I had been leaning toward working with some Dark Eldar, but ended up not even touching them in favor of their nobler kin.

Shout Outs
In my short involvement in the Warhammer Blogging community, I've received some great advice, input, and help from other bloggers. I've also seen some brilliant ideas and beautiful models. Whenever I find some cool material on a blog, I add that blog to my increasingly full Reading list off to the right. If you'd like to be added to the list, shoot me an email at ftgtgaming [at] gmail.com and I'll add you on. I can't promise jumps in page views by any stretch, but I at least check my reading lists frequently for new posts.
Sometimes though, that doesn't feel like enough, so I'd like to give some thanks and kudos, and highlight some posts and tools I've found recently which I liked. This collection is by no means complete, authoritative, or otherwise, and makes no claims to be so. It is also, for the most part, not in any sort of order.

Gaming Weekend II: One Month Out
As the title of the post suggests, we're planning another gaming weekend for June 29th. We're still in early discussion and planning, but it's looking like the big game will feature Ron's new Tau, possibly with +Chandler D adding some firepower either from shared Tau or other allies, going up against my Orks, who might need some allies depending on the point size.

Gaming Weekend Prep Update
We're in the home stretch and I honestly haven't gotten as much done as I would have liked. I should get a little more hobby time this week than last, but still not much. We'll be getting started on Friday evening, and I have conflicting events Tuesday and Thursday. This gives me two nights to get as much done as possible.

Build Up to a Gaming Weekend
A few months ago, I discovered that a friend of mine from college plays 40k when I stumbled on a review he wrote for a gaming store 200 miles from my house. We had honestly not been in touch much since college but, when I dropped him a line to tell him I would be swinging by the shop on my way through his area, we quickly arranged to meet at the shop and catch up.
