Greetings Reader,
Here we are, on the last day of February and #thecultrises has been going on for the better part of two months now. I haven't quite hit my total painted models goal but I have been extremely pleased at consistent progress on this army as well as a pretty good quality of painting for my current skill level.

Facing The Grey Tide Podcast - Episode 63: The Best Generals Invade
What is up Everyone? This week Chandler, Evan, and Bryan are joined by The Best General himself Adam Abramowicz and his personal Yoda/Coach Andrew Whittaker. The guys jump on to talk about Adam's journey on The Best General, how to approach and what to do when you make a bad table top decision, and a lot of shenanigans. Adam and Andrew are two awesome top flight players who bring a lot of knowledge and fun to everything they do (40k, Drinking, Wing eating, and Podcasting). It was truly an honor to have them on the show, and please check out Adam's awesome journey to Warzone: Atlanta 2018.
Just a bunch of guys, sitting around, talking about 40k, and "multitasking".

8th Ed Tactica: Combat Moves
Hey Everyone! Today I want to go over some tactics for my favorite part of the game of 40k: combat. In this article, I'm going to go over the three moves involved in an assault, as well as some tactics for getting the most out of your assaults (or minimizing your opponent's impact in theirs). The moves and positioning involved in the combat phase is an area where the streamlined rules of 8th Edition actually generate an incredible depth of complexity. The changes to the rules in this phase are mostly pretty subtle, so I regularly see them being read or done wrong. Interestingly, using 7th edition movements is usually legal in 8th edition, but rarely the best option.

Tyranid Tyrannocyte - New Kit Game Changer
So this morning a picture of what looks like next week's White Dwarf was leaked showing the rules for a new Tyranid model - the Tyrannocyte, which looks to be a replacement for the defunct Mycetic Spore.
This is a huge game changer for Tyranid players as it totally changes the available tactics for the army.

Skyblight Tyranids: Taking the Blog Back from the Wolves for a Day.
Greetings friends,
BeeCee here with a quick update.
As you can imagine, Wolf fury has gripped the blog in force. Not only are there some strong units in the codex, but also Chandler and Ron are Space Wolf players. Ron posted up his list and one of the things he mentioned is that it might struggle versus Skyblight. What a perfect time for me to post the Skyblight list I am working on for the Renegade Open in November.

The thirty strong termagant blob and you: How I came to loathe the Tervigon tax.
Hey everyone, BeeCee here...
Wow, it's been a long time since I've had a chance to talk to you. Real life has taken a turn for insanity this summer but things look to be slowing down a little bit more.
I wanted to talk about something that I have been struggling with as a Tyranid player and in talking to the other guys on this blog, I realized I'm not the only one. The question is, "How do I effectively use the thirty strong termagant brood required to unlock my Tervigon?"

Dreadnoughts: What do we do with them?
What's up everyone? It has been a while since I have gotten a post out but it has been because I have been trying to think about my two armies: Iron Hands and Space Wolves, and how I can better use them with 7th edition seeing a rise in the Vehicles, the Psyker Phase, and a very interesting mix of newer armies.
I love Dreadnoughts and I have loved them from the moment I got into the game. The idea of a Great Leader or Warrior continuing to serve the Emperor in a Machine that takes on his personality is something I love the fluff, and now with Vehicles staying a little bit more alive, does that mean that Dreads are back? The answer is yes, but you have to be extremely smart with them.
So what type of Dreads do you want to roll? How is your Army Setup? Are you expecting heavy troops, heavy armor, or flyers? These are all questions that you have to think about before you deploy them.

List Building: Tyranids Mawloc Mash
After reading Nick Nanavati's post on Torrent of Fire this morning, I've been thinking about some of the points he raised and how I might use his list as a blueprint for a list that fits what I think would work for me. Namely, using hive commander in combination with a Comms Relay and Mawlocs to overcome the general lack of speed in the current Tyranids Codex.

List Building: 1,000 Point Tyranid Army
Continuing with my series of list building exercises, as mentioned yesterday, I figured I would take a break from the new Space Marine lists and build a list that I might actually bring to my local store's monthly 1k tourney. As mentioned yesterday with my Eldar list building, while I would like to bring a new army and take a break from my nids after NOVA, I also have resolved to myself that I will only field painted armies going forward; the only army I see as being viably complete, at least for October's tournament, is my Tyranids.

Why Won't You Use Me? Units: Space Wolves
Every army has units that for one reason or another will never see the light of day (or night fighting) on the Battlefield. Recently I purchased off of Ebay a Rhino and Whirlwind/Rhino/Razorback in the same pack. I had planned on just using the Whirlwind as either a Rhino or Razorback for a handy troop carrier or Mobile Gun platform. With our epic Three Player Game approaching I started thinking about the Whirlwind more; it has an Ordnance Weapon, 48" range, Barrage, and the ability to fire two sets of missiles: why the hell should I not use him against either the Tau or Eldar? Since that game I have found my Whirlwind being extremely effective with getting first blood/first kill and causing hell on opponents lines.
That's when I decided to go back through the Space Wolves Codex and think about units, characters, HQ choices, and vehicles and ask the question: why not use them?

Tyranid Tactica and the Question of Grots vs. Terminators
Fritz recently posed this question on his blog and forum (so all credit to him): what is more powerful, a group of Grots, or Terminators? The crux of the argument stems from how to define "powerful" and that Grots, as troops who will be largely overlooked, are more likely to win games than Terminators.
I decided to take this idea and look at my Tyranids; who are my Terminators? who are my Grots? It seems obvious, but part of why Fritz brought it up is because the obvious answers (like Terminators are more powerful) might not be as clear cut as you first think.

Nova Bound: Tyranid List Building - 1,850 Points
As I've alluded to in my previous Nova Bound posts, I've been bouncing all over the place in what I want to bring. Part of this is because I haven't really played many games at this scale and tend to get most of my gaming in at 1,000 points. A forewarning, this post is a veritible wall of text and quite long. Reader beware.
