Last week I did one of the nerdiest things ever and played a game against myself. Obviously you can't keep secrets from yourself, but I have found it can be useful for practicing game mechanics and just seeing how things work in-game. The game ended up extremely low scoring in part because I knew exactly what was being attempted, but also because I just wasn't very good at playing to the Schemes and Strategies. Finally, it was a fun way to break out my recently painted minis and push them around a bit.

Kickstarter: Black Maria Designs
Friends of ours, Todd of SincaiN40k and Sean of L33tlike.us, recently launched their kickstarter to produce some absolutely amazing laser cut terrain in a Western/Steampunk theme, which would work great for Malifaux. Honestly, there's not much else to say - they've designed some of the coolest and most detailed laser cut MDF terrain I've seen and I'll let the pics do most of the talking:

Review: Predator, Prey - The Beast Arises Book 2
With the release of the third book in the Beast Arises series last weekend, it's about time I finished my review of the second installment in the Beast Arises series from Black Library, Predator, Prey. This will be my second time writing this post as the first was eaten by the warp, though I also didn't like the direction it went. As with part 1 of the review, SPOILER ALERT.

LVO by the Numbers
So, with LVO over and done with, I wanted to take a quick look at how the various armies fared, who made day three, and overall outcomes and impressions from the event as a distant bystander. First, the armies. This analysis has actually been done elsewhere - some people beat me to the punch, but I've included some nice pretty charts, so I'll talk about it anyway.

LVO Updates
Just a quick update as day 2 of the LVO is underway. The current standings and results can be found at this tracking system, however, it only shows the current round. With the help of Chip from Torrent of Fire, I've been gathering the round by round data and compiling it to maintain a leaderboard. Unfortunately I don't have factions, so can't keep everyone in the loop there, but if you want to check it out, simply go here for my working Google Spreadsheet with standings and round by round results, as well as the current pairings.

Facing the Grey Tide Podcast - Episode 35: Q&A with the Grey Tide
What is up Everyone? This week on the Podcast, Evan, Ron, Bryan, and Chandler answer some fan emails and break down their thoughts about the Las Vegas Open, or LVO. The Podcast starts off with some bold predictions, some overall thoughts on the Tournament, and also kind of the state of the ITC and some lists that they expect. In addition, James and Geoff get their questions answered about how to try to beat Grey Knights with Nidzilla style lists, how to run Mephiston in a solely Blood Angels force, and then the biggest question of all; how can you get out of a 40k rut.
The Tide tackle all of the questions on this episode of the FTGT Podcast.

LVO Predictions
Starting tomorrow is the third annual Las Vegas Open, which includes the biggest 40k Singles event in the world, with over 300 players registered. This high profile event has become the cornerstone of the ITC and serves as the final event in the year long ITC Season, where a winner will be crowned and receive a cash prize; last year's winner, Paul McKelvey, received a check for $2,000 for winning the 2014 ITC season.
In honor of the largest 40k event in the world, I'm going to make an almost entirely unsupported and likely biased stab at predicting the winners and armies that have the best shot at winning this absolutely massive event. The odds are definitely against me; last year, Sean Nayden won with the highly surprising Lictorshame Tyranids list. I won't be predicting a repeat of Tyranids at the top.

NOVA Bound 2016 - Early List Building
With NOVA passes going on sale last night, it's already that time of year to start thinking about what I will be taking and what events I will participate in. I haven't totally committed yet, but I'm fully expecting to play in the 40k GT again this year; who knows what the meta landscape will be like in 7 months' time, but at least for now I can start building my plan.

Wait, 2015 is Over? Surely this isn't Another 2016 Goals Post is it?
Hey Everyone, BeeCee here once again,
As usual, I'm really late with a hobby recap/goals for 2016 post. I would be concerned with this but I don't think I've ever hit a deadline on the blog before and I am certainly not going to start right now.
