2018 In Review and 2019 Resolutions

Over the last year, while post frequency remained lower than we'd like, I started the year with a Year Review and Look Ahead post. So it seems appropriate to kick off 2019 with the same, looking back at 2018 and my resolutions for the year, and then making new resolutions for 2019.

Warzone: Atlanta - Final Lists - Blood Angels 2.0 and Field Analysis

A few weeks ago I shared my planned list for Warzone: Atlanta in a couple weeks. With lists due last week I am locked in with my list, as is the rest of the field.

Warzone: Atlanta is rapidly approaching and I have been working on what to take. I am leaning toward my Blood Angels lead Imperial lists, adapting off the list I took to NOVA last month but between the recent Fall FAQ and painted model availability, I am feeling a little limited on the list itself.

With under a month to go until Warzone: Atomic Empire, James and I managed to get our first test game in last weekend. Both of us are flailing a little in terms of list builds post FAQ so we are both sort of defaulting back to things we have mostly painted that might work out ok.

What is up Everyone? Evan, Bryan, and Chandler work their way into a healthy discussion about the most recent tournaments they went to:  The Renegade Open and Warzone:  Atlanta.  Bryan starts the night off by going through his list, talking about some of the fun moments and crucial decisions he made, and the overall feel of one of the top tournaments in the Midwest.  Dave and Puck really know how to setup a fun and challenging event.  Chandler and Evan then breakdown their round by round games as they discuss some of the challenges that happened with the missions, some of the fun aspects of the opponents and games they played, and then talk about some of the finer moments of the tournament.  This is one of the Biggest Warhammer 40k Parties in the Nation and the men and women from the General Staff do a hell of a job putting it all together.

Facing The Grey Tide Podcast - Episode 58: Warzone Prep and Hints with Kelly Wallace

What is up Everyone? Ron, Evan, and Chandler are joined by Kelly Wallace, Field Marshall, of the General Staff to break down Warzone.  With just under two weeks to prepare, Kelly heard our last podcast and decided to join us to break down the missions, talk about the tournament and how they set things up, and bring some good knowledge (seriously, Chandler was taking notes during the podcast at that point [NERD]).  He also talks about some of the ideas for the future, some of the major changes and minor changes made (look at the Facebook and Website for updates), and what to expect for November 10th-12th.  It is a fun entertaining podcast with one of the taller members of General Staff and a guy who with a bunch of friends have made one of the best tournaments in the US.

Facing The Grey Tide Podcast - Episode 57: Warzone Atlanta Mission Pack and Tournament Prep

What is up Everyone? Bryan, Evan, and Chandler sit down to break down the Mission Pack for Warzone Atlanta.  With the Tournament less than a month away, the guys go through from the setup, to what can be rerolled, and each mission.  The missions are discussed about the scoring, some of the things we like and don't like, and our thoughts on challenges that could pop up in the mission.  Bryan talks about the Death Guard that will be making their way to the Renegade Open and his thoughts on Distraction Units and where and how to use them.  A fun podcast breaking down missions, just like we have done in the past.

What is up Everyone? Evan, Bryan, Ron, and Chandler come together to recap the NOVA Open.  Ron and Evan showed up with some of our mates from the Blog to join in on one of the premier events on the East Coast.  They discuss the overall tournament, some thoughts on the Meta, and the awesome showing from vendors like GW.  Everyone follows up by discussing WarZone Atlanta and Renegade, the next two tournaments coming up for the podcast and where we are with our individual lists.  To round out the show, Death Guard come knocking.  Like a plague, the boys can't help but talk about how awesome the army is, how cool the models are looking, and some of the fun stuff they want to try once all of the goodies are up.

What is up Everyone? Chandler, Evan, and Bryan sit down to talk about the Warzone Atlanta Tournament that was held back in November.  Evan and Chandler break down their games, talk about the fun shenanigans that happened at the tournament, the awesome opponents we went up against, and some of the beautiful armies that made their way to the tournament.  This is one of the premier tournaments in the nation and we love going to hang out and play in it whenever possible.

What is up Everyone? Over a month ago, Chandler, Evan, and Bryan sat down to talk about Genestealer Cult, Tourney Prep, some games that we got in, and the amount of painting and hobbying we had accomplished.  Unfortunately, That episode was lost in the warp, UNTIL NOW.  The guys sit down almost a month out and after not having done a podcast in a long time, it turned into one of our old fashioned podcasts.  Lots of rambling, lots of talking, and of course, lots of Nids.

I got back from Atlanta about 12 hours ago, as of writing this post, and have slept for maybe two hours, so, for today at least, I'm just posting up a pic-dump from the event, primarily of the armies on their display boards as I never finished a round all that early (as could be expected playing a swarm list). For this, my first post, I wanted to go through the list I’m going to be taking to Warzone Atlanta, and why it’s just flat out awesome. I mean, obviously, because it’s Nids.

I know a lot of people complain that the Nid codex is bad, or it’s underpowered, or whatever. It’s all crap. They’re pretty clearly just not seeing all the great stuff Games Workshop has given us Nid players that we can use to totally dominate the galaxy.
