Warzone: Atlanta List Building - Blood Angels 1.1

Warzone: Atlanta is rapidly approaching and I have been working on what to take. I am leaning toward my Blood Angels lead Imperial lists, adapting off the list I took to NOVA last month but between the recent Fall FAQ and painted model availability, I am feeling a little limited on the list itself.

NOVA 2018 Recap

NOVA was, as always, a blast. It was a couple weeks ago at this point, but I am already looking forward to next year and have it marked on my calendar. This year, as well as playing in the 40k GT for a sixth time, I also had the pleasure of playing in the Invitational for a third time. I am going to (somewhat) briefly run through my nine game over the course of the convention and give some highlights.

FTGT Painting Desk: WIP Wednesday

Hey guys, FTGT Evan back again with another WIP Wednesday post. I missed last week in part because I didn't have much in the way of an update. I have made a little bit of progress on the Kabalite Warriors I've been working on, but also took a bit of a detour to jump-start my painting mojo, which had been dragging for a bit.

Shield of Baal: Exterminatus Review

Over the weekend I finished my read through of the newest addition to the Shield of Baal campaign. Again, the first thing that really stands out to me with the book is the artwork. I didn't note any repeated skull themes, but it was nonetheless very nice images. The take on the Tyranids in this series has been awesome, with a very unnatural and creepy look that fits with the longtime fluff descriptions of them.

Shield of Baal: Leviathan Fluff Book Review

I wrapped up reading through the fluff book and enjoyed it immensely. The visuals are very high quality, both original artwork and diorama/showcases for new models. I will talk about how things go in the story line, so Spoiler Alert below the bump.

SpikeyCon 2014, part 2, Bat Reps and Mission Thoughts

To follow up on my first post about SpikeyCon, Chandler and I participated in the Iron Man tournament from 8:00pm until 5:00am. It was a blast, and I'm still recovering. I took the FTN suggested DE allies with my Tyranids.

Astra Militarum: New name, new book. A first look. Hey that rhymes!

Hey everyone, BeeCee here.

It's codex review time! Due to GW being based in the UK, all of us here at FTGT feel like we are getting away with something when the digital downloads start for the new books on Friday afternoon here in the U.S.
I think the dude on the cover kind of looks like a zombie.
This month we have a reboot of the Emperor's faithful, the nameless, faceless, die by the billions, Imperial Guard, err Astra Militarum.

SCARAB GT: Day 1, Game 2 - Tyranids vs. Imperial Guard with Inquisitor and Space Wolves

After my loss to Josh in Game 1, my second game was against Talon and his Imperial Guard. The mission was The Scouring primary and Purge the Alien secondary on Hammer and Anvil deployment. Talon's list had an Inquisitor warlord and Space Wolf allies with two rune priests and some grey hunters in a pod:

Inquisitor

Guard Platoon Command Squad, 4 Flamers
Guard Platoon Command Squad, 4 Flamers
Guard Blob - 4 Lascannons

Local 1k Tournament: Eldar with Tau Allies

Last weekend was the monthly 1k tournament at my LGS. A while back I made a deal with myself that I wouldn't field an army that wasn't fully painted. Right now that would essentially stick me with my Tyranids. That said, I'm planning on playing my Tyranids pretty heavily over the next two weeks at our gaming weekend and then the SCARAB GT, and I was hoping for a quick break.

And so, Saturday night I found myself digging through my Eldar and Tau minis to come up with a 1,000 point list that would only include models that at least had paint on them and no bare plastic other than the base. In the end, I came up with the following list:

NOVA Wrap Up - Day 3 and Final Thoughts

As detailed in previous posts, Day 1 saw me go 1-2, progressively getting better after being tabled in Game 1 while on Day 2 I went undefeated, setting me up to play the semi-finals of my bracket on Sunday morning.

Weekend Tournament: Fun N Games

So yesterday, (Sunday), my friend John and I ventured to our LGS Fun N Games for their monthly Warhammer 40k Tournament.  John has Orks at his home but here in Blacksburg, he's got nothing but us and +Evan S's armies; Evan set him up with an in your face Ork army, while I came there with 2 lists ready for hopefully a fun day.  My Lists were basically the same with a few minor exceptions.  I had one list that was a Monster Hunter list while the other was Bjorn making another appearance for the Wolves (Three Player Game).  Upon arriving at the store I was greeted by a wonderful sight of 7 other players besides John and myself and a variety of armies, including Tau, Dark Angels, Tyranids, 2 Orks, Imperial Guard, Chaos Marines, Space Wolves, and another army that I can't recall.

I was (un)lucky to draw Tau, Chaos Marines, and Imperial Guard.  It was a fun day full of surprises.
