Facing The Grey Tide Podcast - Episode 65: FAQ Preview and Thoughts on Tau and Necrons

What is up Everyone? This week Chandler, Evan, and Bryan are talking about their thoughts on the possible FAQ, their thoughts on the the new mini knights, and the release of Tau.  The boys start to talk about what they think of the Tau codex in terms of GW's possible greater move, some of their thoughts on lists leading into Adepticon, and how the mini Knights fit into all of this idea.  The boys also talk briefly about their thoughts on some of the other issues that might exist between the true state of the game and where GW sees the game.  The second half of the game, they talk about the Tau codex and their initial thoughts.  With a very limited time of looking at the Tau Codex, the boys give their initial thoughts on the codex, and they see a very high infantry count army in the future.  They finish off with a little Necron talk since the release of some preliminary rules have hit the web.

The boys are back after a mini break, and the future looks to be on the ground.

What is up Everyone? Evan, Bryan, and Chandler join forces to start the epic Tyranid Codex Review.  It is almost Thanksgiving, and the Nid Players are Thankful for a great bounty of possible options in this new codex.  The guys sit down to start off this review by going through the Hive Fleet adaptations, the Stratagems, and to start the discussion on what we think of the Warlord Traits and some fun synergies.  We also start to discuss possible list building, because there has been a ton of list being sent over the FTGT Communication Array.  Bryan is finishing up some painting for Renegade, Evan and Chandler are both back from Warzone, but the only thing on the collective Hive Mind are the New and Improved Bugs.

What is up Everyone? Bryan, Evan, Ron, and Chandler sit down for this week's podcast to review the first 8th edition codex:  Codex Space Marines!  It has been a long time since the boys were all together and an even longer time since a proper codex review was done.  Everything is discussed from the incredible background that was done into all of the armies histories, to updates to some key units, and of course they talk about the latest Primaris models and some of the big changes that happened in the unit entries and point costs.  It makes sense that with the launch of the newest edition of Warhammer 40k that GW should release the Flag Ship army Space Marines to give us a unique insight into what could be coming down the pipeline for other armies.  Sit back and enjoy an old school codex Review from the Grey Tide.

Codex Review: Necrons

Now that we've had a bit over a week to digest the new Necrons, I've shaken out some of what I see as the winners and losers in the book, and the feel of the new Necrons. To begin, I have to say this feels like one of the most internally balanced (but good - I could argue Orks are internally balanced, but bad) books we've had since Eldar and Tau. By that I mean that the book doesn't cater to a single obvious choice in each Force Org slot and a general obvious build. It also doesn't appear to be over the top powerful, but still nearly in line with other 7th Edition books in terms of overall power.

Hey everyone BeeCee here with a quick first look at the new Codex Adeptus Astartes: Blood Angels book that dropped digitally on Friday night!

Blood Angels were my first army and due to alot of poorly painted/cheaply primed minis that I had that just won't work anymore, I have been stockpiling space marines to get my Blood Angels going again. All I needed was the new book.... Now is the time!

Codex: Dark Eldar First Look Review

The new Dark Eldar book is out, and while the internet rumbling seemed pretty negative and hopeless, I'm still pretty excited about the new book. I'm not going to say they're a new powerhouse or anything yet, but they still have wonderful models and a sinister feel.

I mean, good lord that's some nice cover art.

For now, let's look at the rules, since that's what we're all curious about. I'll go through the units and then look at wargear and army special rules.

Only two weeks out from Codex:  Space Wolves, and we have our next 7th edition book. This is awesome, and with the new dataslate out earlier today, the Knights are on the move, looking for Demons.

What's up everyone? This week on the Podcast, we continue the chase of the Wolves. We start the show by finding out what the guys have been up to for the last couple of weeks, we chase down the Warlord Traits (Sagas) and Tempestas Discipline (Space Wolf psychic powers) before finishing off the show with the big tournament at the end of August, NOVA 2014 in Arlington, VA (August 28th-31st).  The boys go through a hefty mission pack that you need to play test before you get to NOVA (friendly advice).

Space Wolves Hot and Cold Unit Reviews

Hey guys, 

Ron here with another Space Wolves codex review in the form of hot/cold units.  While it's still too early to have unlocked the entire codex, we're starting to get a good idea of the winners/losers of this new book.  My main armies are Tyranids and Wolves, and I'm excited to play this codex.  Sure there has been a lot of unique items/abilities removed from the codex, and no, the psychic powers/relics don't seem that great, but there are definitely some gems in the unit entries.  So put on your swimming caps and speedos, it's time to dive in polar bear style.

Space Wolves Codex Review - In Depth

Winter has come early, and after spending several hours looking through the digital codex, the 5th Edition Codex, checking the Runes, listening to the winds, and determining my Wyrd; I am finally ready to bring about the most comprehensive Space Wolves review that I can do. This is going to be top down with no holding back. Before I continue, I would like to say that outside of some issues with trying to figure out what costs what, and what different units can take what; I have come to the conclusion that GW took away some of our flair unique to the Wolves, but gave us a codex inline with that of the Space Marines while still giving us the Wolves' flair we have come to expect.

Waaagh! Ghazghkull First Look

Ok, it's a little later than most of our "First Looks," but with the holiday weekend and fantastic weather, I wasn't hanging out with my computer much. Anyway, let's take a look at the supplement about the most famous Ork Warboss of all.

Early Ork List Buidling: 1,850 points

Ok, despite a general "meh" feeling I got at first, I couldn't help but get to work building some lists. For this first list I picked a bunch of stuff I liked the sound of, so it's probably not very cohesive, though I think it could be a little intimidating.

Codex Orks First Look

The first 7th Edition Codex is now officially out (more or less, still seemed a little early). We've been getting leaks since last week, but as always I tended to be skeptical. Anyway, let's dive in.

The first thing I noticed is that the format of the book is different. Granted, I am looking at the digital edition, but past digital codices have closely mirrored the physical books. The "Forces of the Orks" section says that each unit has a datasheet, which detail Army List Entries or formations. No more do we see the split of detailed rules and fluff and the army list entry. These datasheet entries look exactly like the ones we've seen for the units released in White Dwarf, like the Mek Guns.
