What is up Everyone? In this episode, Bryan and Chandler are joined by Andrew Gonyo of the Beast Coast and 40k Fame.  Gonyo steps up to help Bryan talk about Gene Stealer Cults, he breaks down some of his initial thoughts on the units and cults that might be good or seeing more table time, and he talks about where he sees GSC in the immediate future, in the next 6 months, and what it might eventually look like.  Gonyo also talks about his plans for Adepticon, his love for Beast Coast, and how horrible he is with fluff but how good he is with numbers and dice! Here we are, on the last day of February and #thecultrises has been going on for the better part of two months now. I haven't quite hit my total painted models goal but I have been extremely pleased at consistent progress on this army as well as a pretty good quality of painting for my current skill level.

We are already into week two of #thecultrises. How are you liking it so far? I have to be honest, parts of it are frustrating to me- especially the grey skin of the Acolytes and Aberrants. The good news is because of the accountability of this journey, I'm steadily plugging away. Progress is contagious and I have found it easier to choose to paint over vegging in front of Netflix or playing a game of Battletech on PC. That in itself is tremendous hobby priority progress.

WIP Wednesday: Genestealer Cult Mechanicus Troops and a Contemptor Dreadnought

A couple weeks ago I shared my progress on kitbashing Skitarii and Neophyte kits for my Genestealer Cult Mechanicus project. While my goal is to copy Bryan with weekly updates, I didn't post last week because it was basically the same as my first WIP Wednesday post - just assembling more Neophyte Skitarii.

I bet you were skeptical you'd ever see another post from me where I stick with anything or even update this blog. Don't feel bad, I was pretty skeptical I'd get anything updated either. I suck at staying focused on just about anything. And yet, here we are!

I am a slow painter but I managed to finish four acolytes from the Overkill box that i had sitting around, did some detail work on my Abominant, and fully finished four aberrants and almost finished another 6. I'm calling that a win to get this machine started.

WIP Wednesday: Genestealer Cult Mechnanicus - Kitbashing Skitarii and Neophytes

As part of my hobby resolution to get back to working on projects that inspire me, and inspired in no small part by Bryan's #thecultrises effort, I have started working on a pet project that has been gestating in my brain since Genestealer Cults were first released a couple years ago. Specifically, I want to do my Genestealer Cult as a bit of a mashup with Adeptus Mechanicus and Skitarii.

Stored in boxes in the depths of the hobby room, languishing from abuse from index points costs, beta reserve rules, and a general lack of time on my part. Now is the time to strike! I am calling 2019 #thecultrises and I'm hoping you will come along with me on this journey.

NOVA 2018 Recap

NOVA was, as always, a blast. It was a couple weeks ago at this point, but I am already looking forward to next year and have it marked on my calendar. This year, as well as playing in the 40k GT for a sixth time, I also had the pleasure of playing in the Invitational for a third time. I am going to (somewhat) briefly run through my nine game over the course of the convention and give some highlights.

What is up Everyone? In this episode, Evan and Chandler come together to talk about Evan's last minute preparations for the NOVA Invitational as well the GT.  The guys start off talking about the Daunting Challenge that is Nick Nanavati.  Evan talks about his thoughts on his list and the challenges it will face against Nick's list.  They then break down the scouring system that NOVA has gone with this year, the round by round missions, and the challenges that his list will face in each mission.  They also break down the scoring for the Primary, the Secondary, and the Tertiary and their thoughts on which ones work well for his list.  We also break down Evan's lists and talk about the strengths of both lists in each of the tournaments.

This week on the Podcast, Chandler, Bryan, and Evan come together with Andrew and Chad from the Heroic Intervention Podcast to give the most in-depth Codex review for the Genestealer Cult.  We dive into everything from Winners to Winners to the couple of losers from this Codex.  We talk about some of the initial lists, some of the initial controversy with some of the rules, and have a good time connecting with another member of the Greater Hive Mind and his Dark Eldar Brother.  It is probably the most comprehensive podcast we have ever given for a Codex.

This week on the Podcast, Chandler, Bryan, and Evan come together to talk.  It has been a long time and the boys have been busy.  Evan returns from NOVA with some insight, Bryan is getting ready for The Renegade, and Chandler and Evan talk about their initial prep for Warzone Atlanta.  Since the last show, Genestealer Cult drops, Blood Angels have been summoned, and 40k is crazier than ever.  The boys jump from topic to topic after a long hiatus.

Genestealer Cult: Early List Building - 1,850

With the release last weekend of Deathwatch: Overkill, and the leak of the 40k rules for the Genestealer Cult (and subsequent publication by GW online), I went ahead and did some early list building, adding in Tyranids to complete the army.
