Wolf Works Project - Dreadtober Dread

Hello everyone.  Wolf Works Lighting here with the completion of our Dreadtober LED Dreadnought.  For this Project, we started thinking of what to do when Greggles posted about painting a dreadnought (or equivalent) in the month of October.  Needless to say, we were excited, on board from the get go, and we are finally ready to show off our LED Wolf Man Dread.

Enjoy the Pictures Below.

Wolf Works Lighting - The Wolf Sled of Grimnar Conversion

It is with great pleasure that I am here to show you the newest model from Wolf Works Lighting. When the first pictures of the Space Wolves book came out, people were talking about the might Wolf Sled. Logan Grimnar's personal ride that makes him look a little like Santa, a little like a Norse God, and all Bad Ass. Except for the fact that it doesn't really fit into the realm of the Space Wolves. The internet then gave us this beauty below. It was from this image that the designers at Wolf Works took to trying to bring this model to life.

Wolf Works: The Dark Talon / Nephilim Fighter

It is with great pleasure that the Team at Wolf Works Lighting presents:

Nephilim Jet Fighter / Dark Talon

This project has been a long time in the making with part of the struggle being that some accessory objects ended up by the wayside because of limited room and compatibility issues.  With that said, this model has taken on some of the qualities seen in the Storm Talon, improved on them, and made them more efficient.

Wolf Works: Orks Take to the Sky

I have to say that so far, out of all of the models that I have lit up, the most incredible one is the Dakka Jet for Evan’s Orks.  It has a lot of Orky goodness in it, and all of the lights add to that feel.  The whole setup is internal within the fuselage.  It is run off of a 9V battery with a total of 3 true LEDs and a switch that has an LED when it is in the on position. Below I will talk about my process for bringing this beast to light.

Wolf Works: Circuit Creation

With our last post, we got all of the materials needed for creating a LED circuit.  The next step is learning how to create a working circuit to get your desired effect and bring your model to the next level.

So just like the rest of Warhammer 40K, let’s get into some MATH.  These calculations are important because one number, one miscalculation, or one little error can cause issues that are going to drain batteries, drain resources, and waste money.  Trust me; I have blown plenty of LEDs, drained batteries, and wasted solder and wires unnecessarily.  Hopefully, my mistakes will help you avoid making the same mistakes.  Remember, with miniatures, mistakes generally lead to more money being spent.

Wolf Works: Getting Started

For those interested in lighting up a model for the first time, there are a few things to keep in mind; first,  when selecting a model, bigger is better and the larger the model, the easier it will be for the LED, wires, switches, and battery.  Now with that said, the first model I chose to light up was a Dreadnought for my Space Wolf army.

Wolf Works: Introduction

I would like to take the chance to introduce myself.  My name is Chandler and I will be a regular poster here on FTGT from the laboratories of Wolf Works (I will explain this later).  I am the friend that got Evan back into the realm of Warhammer 40k.

I am the resident Space Wolf player.  I love the fluff, iconography, and the models that they have for their army.  When I was getting into 40k, I did a lot of research into the different armies.  This research was filtered around two things; which back-story I would like for my army and which army I would identify with as I progress from a few members into a true army.  I will say for anyone that is starting into the hobby, don't take a blind jump into an army and sink hundreds of dollars into the hobby; do the research, look at the models and fluff, and find the army that suits you because it will add that little extra that will keep you going when losing streaks pile up.
