FTN Seasonal Day 2 Bat Reps and Wrap Up

Hey guys. Back again for a post on Day 2 of the FTN Winter Seasonal. To recap from Day 1, I was coming into the second day 0-3 but with a mid pack battle point total of 39 points. The day started with me being matched up against Steve Bewley and his Chaos Daemons. For those who have been following for a while, you may realize this was a rematch from Game 5 at SCARAB 2014,

FTN Seasonal Day 1 Bat Reps

As I mentioned yesterday, despite going 1-4 at the FTN Seasonal, I had five of the best games I've ever had at an organized event. All my games were fun and close fought, with the winner only being determined in the last turn or so.

I took the list I came up with after my last playtest game, so I hadn't played with that exact iteration before. Fortunately, unlike at NOVA last year, I felt that I brought the best list I could.

Painted Tyrannocyte

Hey Guys. It's been a while since I did a generic painting post, so I thought I'd share some quick hits from the most recent model I painted, my Tyrannocyte.

As you probably know, this is just a massive model. I don't have a comparison shot for you, but hopefully by next week I'll have the whole army for the FTN Seasonal on a display board. Anyway, into the Tyrannocyte painting.

FTN Seasonal Tyranids

I've been touting it everywhere, but at the end of the month I'll be in Durham, NC at the Forge the Narrative Winter Seasonal. At the time of writing this, I have just over 18 days to paint up everything I want for my list. I'm also working through finalizing my list and trying to get some last minute playtests.

List Building: Post NOVA Tyranid Redirection

As I concluded in my NOVA Review, I really wasn't very happy with the list I took. In part I think it didn't fit my playstyle, so wasn't terribly fun. The list also relied on a castle that really wasn't durable or mobile. Finally, while I had anti-armor available, my list was primarily anti-infantry. The games I struggled with were ones where a good portion of the enemy infantry were hanging out in transports, rendering my biovores and Devourer termagants useless.

NOVA in Review

Three days later and I'm still recovering from the trip. Unlike last year, I really went in for the full experience and stayed at the hotel Thursday through Sunday. I also managed to squeeze in one of the classes Friday morning, in which I built my display board with Eric from the 11th Company.

List Building for SpikeyCon v.2 - Tyranids and Dark Eldar

As I mentioned in my previous list building post, I've been toying with various ideas for my first Tournament of 7th Edition at SpikeyCon on June 14-15. After talking to the guys from Forge the Narrative and listening to their most recent podcast, I decided to look into allying some Dark Eldar to drop a Crucible of Malediction into the mix for some serious anti-psyker potential.

Old Urien Rakarth with Crucible of Malediction
Dark Eldar were also my second army, and I'd actually been entertaining thoughts of getting rid of them rather than updating the collection, so it's nice to have a reason to try them out again.

Facing the Grey Tide Podcast - Episode 7: Paul Murphy Surfs the Grey Tide

What's up Everyone?  It's another week and another Special Guest on the Podcast.  This week we were able to hunt down The Man, The Myth, and The Legend that is Paul Murphy of Forge the Narrative and we welcomed Paul tonight to talk about everything that happened at AdeptiCon, List Building, and the missions that he has been working on.  It was a pleasure to talk to him and get his insight on some hot topics that are currently in the world of 40k.

Paul came in ready to roll, grabbed his surf board, and road the Grey Tide into shore.  We even had time to fire up the Delorean for a few old stories.  FYI - First Blood went to him.

Hope you enjoy the episode.
